Lake Garda - Gastronomy

Without a doubt the foods that characterise the entire area of Lake Garda are based on freshwater fish, served with extra virgin olive oil and accompanied by wine. In the area of the eastern shores of the upper Brescia region, the production of olive oil is important as is that of citrus fruits, like lemons, and in the mountainous area you can find truffles and the production of typical cheeses from the “Alpe del Garda” dairy. The traditional dish in the area is Fillet of Trout with Citrus Fruits. In the Trentino area of Lake Garda you can enjoy wines that are guaranteed by the Consorzio Trentino Doc consortium, such as Schiava and Müller Thurgau, extra virgin olive oil and dishes with freshwater fish as well as carne salada, or cured meat. The traditional dish is Carne Salada with beans. In the Veronese area of Lake Garda the production of wine such as Bardolino is important and there is no lack of extra virgin olive oil, white asparagus, fish dishes and fruit farms. The traditional dish is Risotto with Tench.
